What reminders does Coday have, and how do I change how many days ahead they come?

Updated

Coday reminds you about renewals, restocks, when something pays off, trial ends, parts running low, and key dates like warranty and shelf life, at 9 AM on the day. Each reminder has its own advance notice: renewals 3 days before, trial ends and run-outs 2 days before, dates 7 days before, and pay-off on the day. To change one, tap it under You → Reminders, or tap its reminder on the item's page. No Premium or sign-in needed.

Kinds of reminders

Reminder When Default How to add it in the form
Renewal A subscription's next charge 3 days before Comes with Subscription pricing: "Renewal reminder"
Trial end A subscription's trial ends 2 days before Turn on Trial Period: "Trial end reminder"
Restock A consumable is running out or has run out 2 days before; when 1 is left if it's used up by use Consumable pricing: "Run-out reminder", or the Stock chip
Low Parts like brush heads, filters or a class pass are nearly due 2 days before; when 1 use is left if counted by use Remaining
Pays off Cost per day or per use drops to the target you set On the day The "Target avg" chip
Key dates Warranty, shelf life, return window or price protection ends, or any date you name (like a contract ending) 7 days before The Warranty, Shelf life and Date chips
Recurring Car insurance, inspections, servicing, vaccines, flea treatment, each time they're due 3 days before with a cost each time, 7 days without The "Recurring cost" chip
Time goal You've owned it for a set time, like wearing a down jacket for three years On the day The Duration chip

Consumables and parts that are used up by use don't have an exact run-out date, so they don't count days ahead. Instead you're reminded every day once what's left drops to a set amount (1 by default), and straight away when it runs out.

Only items that are In Use get reminders. Retired or sold items stop.

Change how far ahead

There are three places, and they all change the same setting:

  • You → Reminders: every upcoming reminder, in date order. Tap one to open its settings.
  • The item's page: tap the reminder.
  • Edit the item: each card has a reminder setting ("Renewal reminder" and "Trial end reminder" for subscriptions, "Run-out reminder" for consumables).

Choose "No reminder", "Same day", "1 day before", "3 days before" or "5 days before", or tap "Add reminder" to enter your own number of days, up to 365. For things counted by use, you pick how much is left instead. Pay-off reminders only come on the day.

Not getting reminders?

  1. On the You tab, open Reminders and check that "Push Reminders" at the top is on. It turns on by itself the first time you save an item with a reminder, but if you turned it off, turn it back on.
  2. If that page says Coday doesn't have notification permission, tap Settings and allow it.
  3. Check the item is still In Use.

Android may deliver a few minutes late to save battery. Phones limit how many notifications an app can schedule (64 on iPhone, 30 on HarmonyOS). Coday schedules the soonest first and adds later ones as they go out, so there's nothing to manage.

Retire automatically when it's due

When a date arrives, a duration is reached or something runs out, the item can retire itself: turn on "Auto-retire When Due" on that card when editing the item. Once retired, its average stays where it was that day and reminders stop. Renewals and trial ends don't have this option; to unsubscribe, see how to log one-off purchases, subscriptions and consumables.
