How do I get reminded to restock household supplies before they run out?

Updated

Note how many you bought and how fast you use them, and you can tell when they'll run out and restock in time. In Coday: log tissues, laundry detergent and the like as Consumables, enter what the batch cost and how many you got, and choose how much goes each day or each use. Coday works out when it runs out and reminds you 2 days before; when you restock, tap Restock and the cost per unit counts every batch together. Free, no sign-in needed.

How to log it

  1. Add an item and set Pricing to "One-off · Consumable".
  2. Enter what this batch cost as the price, and how many you bought as the Quantity.
  3. Choose how it gets used up, then save.

Two ways things get used up

Used up Good for When it runs out When you're reminded
Over time Cat food at 1 portion a day, vitamins at 1 a day Counted down daily, so exact 2 days before
With each use Laundry pods, coffee pods; tap "Use once" each time Estimated from how you've used it lately, marked as an estimate Every day once 1 is left

You can change how many days ahead, or how many left, from the Run-out reminder, or by tapping it under You → Reminders.

Restocking

On Home, tap View at the top left and pick Consumables, then tap Restock on that item and enter how many you bought and what you paid. The run-out date moves out, and the cost per unit counts every batch: 12 rolls of paper for 5.90, then another 12 for 5.50, comes to 0.475 a roll.

See what's running low at a glance

In the Consumables view, sort by Runs Out to put whatever runs out first at the top, or filter to Running low to see only what needs buying.

Several supplies for one thing

If cat food and cat litter both belong to your cat, tap the Stock chip at the end of the form to add another; each is counted on its own. For parts you replace on a schedule, like brush heads or filters, use Remaining; see how to log a one-off purchase, a subscription or a consumable.
