How do I get reminded before an appliance's warranty runs out?
Updated
Write down when you bought it and how long the warranty lasts, and let your phone remind you before it ends, so you can get faults repaired while they're still covered. In Coday: add the appliance, tap the Warranty chip at the end of the form, and enter how many years it lasts or the end date. You're reminded 7 days before it ends, and you can keep a photo of the receipt or warranty card as an attachment. Free, no sign-in needed.
How to log it
- Add an item with its name, price and purchase date, or edit one you've already logged.
- Tap the Warranty chip at the end of the form and enter it as a length of time or an end date. A length counts from the purchase date, like 2 years; if the box or receipt gives an end date, enter that.
- Save. The item's page shows how many days of warranty are left.
How far ahead you're reminded
By default 7 days before, at 9 AM. If you need more time (an extended warranty usually has to be bought before the original one ends), change it to 30 days: tap the reminder on the Warranty card, or tap it under You → Reminders. You can go up to 365 days ahead.
Keep the receipt and warranty card
Repairs usually need proof of purchase. Attachments aren't on the form by default: under Customize, set Attachments to Expanded or Collapsed, then tap "Add attachment" to take a photo or pick an image.
Return windows and price protection too
For a return window or price protection period, tap the Date chip and name it "Return window" or "Price protection". You're reminded before it ends in the same way.
Why not just use a calendar?
A calendar can remind you too, but you have to work out each end date yourself and add every one by hand, and once you own a lot of things it's hard to tell what's still covered. In Coday each item's warranty sits with what it cost and its cost per day, and You → Reminders lists everything coming up in date order. For the other reminders, see what reminders Coday has.
